On the Chow Groups of Certain Geometrically Rational 5-folds
We give an explicit regular model for the quadric fibration studied in [9]. As an application we show that this construction furnishes a counterexample for the integral Tate conjecture in any odd characteristic for some sufficiently large finite field. We study the étale cohomology of this regular model, and as a consequence we derive that these counterexamples are not torsion.
متن کاملExact robot navigation in geometrically complicated but topologically simple spaces
A navigation function is an artificial potential energy function on a robot configuration space (C-space) which encodes the task of moving to an arbitrary destination without hitting any obstacle. In particular, such a function possesses no spurious local minima. In this paper we construct navigation functions on forests of stars: geometrically complicated C-spaces that are topologically indist...
متن کاملNumerical simulations of flow induced vocal folds vibrations
In this paper the numerical method for solution of an aeroelastic model describing the interactions of air flow with vocal folds is described. The flow is modelled by the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations spatially discretized with the aid of the stabilized finite element method, [1]. The motion of the computational domain is treated with the aid of the Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian method...
متن کاملStress Controls of Monogenetic Volcanism: A Review
The factors controlling the preparation of volcanic eruptions in monogenetic fields are still poorly understood. The fact that in monogenetic volcanism each eruption has a different vent suggests that volcanic susceptibility has a high degree of randomness, so that accurate forecasting is subjected to a very high uncertainty. Recent studies on monogenetic volcanism reveal how sensitive magma mi...
متن کاملMonogenetic Basaltic Volcanoes: Genetic Classification, Growth, Geomorphology and Degradation
Plate motion and associated tectonics explain the location of magmatic systems along plate boundaries [1], however, they cannot give satisfactory explanations of the origin of intra‐ plate volcanism. Intraplate magmatism such as that which created the Hawaiian Islands (Figure 1, hereafter for the location of geographical places the reader is referred to Figure 1) far from plate boundaries is co...
